America’s Cup Day 2

its time for a report on day 2 of the america’s cup… which was better than day 1 by a large margin. it was in fact, the realization of the utter genius of the people who designed this event. the boats performed and RIPPED, the crews were awesome, the racing CLOSE and the venue… well, SF is total nirvana for this event, esp if you are in the west race course bleachers like we are.

its one of the most exciting single sporting events i’ve ever witnessed.

literally from the moment the boats enter the box, you cannot stop to fetch a beer or take a piss or you will miss something major happening. and the camera angles, sounds of the boats literally whistling along, the crews discussing tactics, the sheer beauty of these machines… well, SF, finally, finally, finally we are seeing what this is all about and it is TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY AWESOME… The AC45s were fun, but these things just take it to a WHOLE new level of insane.

I am utterly relieved that there is a break between days, my nerves are shot. i woke up many times last night wondering how the Oracle Team USA boys would come up with new tricks out of the shed not wanting to believe that the whole cup comes down to a capsize that happened 11 months ago and the effect it had on their preparation. today, jimmy and the boys changed my entire outlook with aggressive tactics and rapidly improving sailing. and when the breeze built, we may have even seen their boat become the boat to beat…

I think these boats are the right boats for the event in the right location and after what we see this week, every big syndicate will be building for 2016, if the oracle boys keep the cup. there will be boats for sale and costs will fall dramatically to enter the game with so much development having been done by these 4 intrepid teams.

THEN we will see the HUGE crowds we would have seen this summer if there had been more competition and less outright bullshit from the press and the naysayers…

SF, come out and support your team, whomever they are…

It’s Alumni Monday! My, little doxies, what big teeth you have!  That’s Badass alum Charlie Parker (right) and his new forever sister Wren, cuddled up for a snooze and showing off their ferocious teeth. You can almost hear their snoring through the computer. Way to go, Charlie Parker!
